Carlos Romaguera explores the vast tapestry of the universe, intertwining its externalexpanses with the profound internal realms, guided by the ancient principle of «as above, so below.» This exploration defines his artistic vision, revealing the cosmicdance of opposites and an understanding of existence. His work reflects theinterconnectedness of the macrocosm and the microcosm, propelled by a transformative force within and without. Drawing inspiration from light, matter, and water, Romaguera’s abstract paintings reveal the textured richness of sand within theircompositions. Originally trained in optometry, his fascination with light influences hisart, imbuing his works with a luminous quality, almost as if they are in relief, challenging the two-dimensional space of the canvas. His artistic method ischaracterized by an intricate interplay of chromatic dots, skillfully rendered in oil, capturing not only the universe but also the emotional essence of the cosmos. Thisreflects a dual reality, existing both in the expanse of space and within ourconsciousness. Born in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, Romaguera exhibitsinternationally, including Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and the United States, engaging with energy, spirituality, and the vitality of life. Central to his artistry is thedynamic impact of color—its potency and expression engage deeply with the viewer’sperceptions. Romaguera examines color’s dramatic attributes, its hidden nuances aimedat evoking emotions and altering states of mind. Additionally, he prioritizes theharmony of movement and the essence of line, evolving beyond figuration to distillemotional states through form and color. His innovative contribution to contemporarypainting lies in his chromatic exploration and conceptual breakthrough, ever pushing theboundaries of expression and perception.
